Maddie Fehr wins 100 at Mustang Relays

NEWELL—Maddie Fehr won the 100-meter dash to highlight the performances of the West Bend-Mallard Wolverine girls track squad at the Mustang Relays on Friday, April 25.

The purple-and-gold ended up in sixth place in the team standings with a team total of 44 points in the nine-team field.

North Union girls run at Cardinal Relays

GARNER—Competing in the Class A Division, the North Union Warrior girls track squad ran at the Cardinal Relays in Garner on Tuesday, April 22.

The squad ended up in seventh place overall in the nine-team meet with 40 points as Forest City took home the team title with a score of 204 points.

Murphy double winner at Pocahontas Relays

POCAHONTAS—Owen Murphy of Bishop Garrigan was a double winner to highlight the top performance of a pair of area boys track teams at the annual Pocahontas Relays on Friday, April 25.

The Golden Bears finished in second place in Class B with a team score of 142 points while North Union scored a total of 80 points to take fourth place in the six-team field. Murphy sprinted to gold medals in both the 100-meter dash in 11.65 and the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.37.

BGHS wins two relays at Bronco Relays

BELMOND—Bishop Garrigan won a pair of relays to highlight the performances of the team at the Bronco Relays on Tuesday, April 22.

The black-and-gold finished in fifth place in the 10-team field with a team total of 69 points as West Hancock won the team title with a team score of 129 points.

Two fourth place finishes for WB-M boys at Newell

NEWELL—A pair of fourth place relay finishes highlighted the performances of the West Bend-Mallard Wolverine boys track team at the Mustangs Relays in Newell on Friday, April 25.

The purple-and-gold scored a total of 15 points to end up in sixth place in the final team standings in the eight-team meet as Southeast Valley won the team title with a score of 170 points.

Henderson earns medal at Eagle Grove

EAGLE GROVE—Hitting the road on Friday, April 25 in a Top of Iowa Conference triangular match, both the North Union Warrior boys and girls golf teams competed against Lake Mills and Eagle Grove.

Lake Mills had the low total in the boys’ match with a team score of 167 as North Union was second with a 177 and Eagle Grove placed third with a team total of 192.

Golden Bear golf teams split league road match

BELMOND—Hitting the road for a Top of Iowa Conference triangular match on Friday, April 25, the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bear boys and girls golf team split a league match played at the Belmond Golf & Country Club.

Belmond-Klemme played first in the boys league match with a team score of 175 as Bishop Garrigan took second with a team total of 179 and Garner-Hayfield/Ventura finished third with a score of 190.

AHS girls golfers cruise in NCC match

FORT DODGE—Cruising to an easy league victory on Tuesday, April 22, the Algona Bulldog girls golf squad won a North Central Conference triangular match played at the Lakeside Golf Course just north of Fort Dodge.

The red-and-black posted a team total of 184 to easily win the match as Hampton-Dumont was a distant second with a 227 and St. Edmond placed third with a score of 280.

Henderson fires two-under par 34

BRITT—Junior Drew Henderson carded a two-under par 34 to highlight the performances of the North Union Warriors golf teams in a Top of Iowa Conference triangular match held on Tuesday, April 22 at the Britt Country Club.

The Warrior boys won the league meet with a team total of 162 as West Hancock placed second with a 168 and Eagle Grove took third place with a 185.

Tigges wins 400-meter dash at Garner

GARNER—Freshman Madelyn Tigges won the 400-meter dash to highlight the performances of the Bishop Garrrigan Golden Bear girls track squad at the Cardinal Relays on Tuesday, April 22.

The black-and-gold amassed a total of 91 points during the evening to finish in fourth place in the Class B team standings as a total of nine teams participated.

AHS boys earn gold in seven events at Spirit Lake

SPIRIT LAKE—Continuing their outstanding 2025 campaign, the Algona Bulldog boys track team put on another strong performance by winning seven events at the annual Sheryl Maahs Co-Ed Relays on Tuesday, April 22.

The red-and-black amassed a total of 130 team points in the meet that was topped only by Spirit Lake’s team score of 154 points to place first in the meet.

AHS earns key NCC win over Clear Lake

ALGONA—Both teams shot well, but the Algona Bulldog girls golf squad was a little better in a key North Central Conference match played at the River Road Golf Course on Friday, April 25.

The red-and-black shot their best score of the season with a total of 181 as Clear Lake also shot well with a team score of 194. The Bulldogs improved to 10-1 overall on the season and are a perfect 3-0 in league matches so far this spring.

BGHS splits league home golf match

LIVERMORE—Both the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bear boys and girls golf squads placed second in a Top of Iowa Conference triangular played on Thursday, April 24 at the Spring Valley Golf Course.

The girls squad lost a tough one as both Eagle Grove and the black-and-gold tied with a team total of 203, but the Eagles took first via the fifth golfer tiebreaker and Lake Mills placed third with a team score of 215.

Lions topple Algona in NCC match

CLEAR LAKE—Clear Lake handed the Algona Bulldog boys golf team their first North Central Conference loss on Friday, April 25 at the Veterans Memorial Golf Course.

The Lions had the low score of the day in the league match with a team total of 155 as the red-and-black finished in second place with a 167.

Nathan Manske had the low round of the day for the Bulldogs with a nine-hole total of 39 while teammate Wyatt Kelly added a 41 and Micah Kitzinger shot a 43.

AHS boys win NCC home match

ALGONA—Algona earned a North Central Conference home triangular win on Tuesday, April 22 at the Eagle Hills Golf Course.

The red-and-black posted the low team total of the day with a score of 156 as the St. Edmond Gaels were second with a 188 and Hampton-Dumont finished in third place with a team total of 202.

Nathan Manske earned the medalist honor with his nine-hole total of 36 while teammate Sam Schutjer took the runner-up medal with a score of 39.

High School Trapshooting Results

PALMER—The Algona and Bishop Garrigan High School trapshooting teams traveled to Palmer on Wednesday, April 23 for a meet against eight other squads.

Pocahontas County placed first with a team score of 230 as Bishop Garrigan was second with a team total of 225. Wyatt Rosenmeyer of Bishop Garrigan had the second best male score with his score of 49.
