Golden Bear boys 4th, Warriors 7th at Britt

BRITT—Bishop Garrigan won a pair of relays to highlight the performances of a pair of area boys track team at the Eagle Relays held on Monday, May 5.

The black-and-gold finished in third place in the team standings with 88 points while North Union took seventh place with a team total of 33 points, and West Hancock ran away with the team title with a team score of 169.

WB-M girls fall to Titans in league road match

LAKE CITY—Going on the road for a Twin Lakes Conference match on Friday, May 2, the West Bend-Mallard Wolverine girls golf squad fell to the South Central Calhoun Titans 195-232 at the Lake City Country Club.

Neleigh Almond led the purple-and-gold on Friday with her nine-hole total of 54 while teammate Emma Weydert contributed a round of 56.

Wolverines drop road match at Lake City

LAKE CITY—West Bend-Mallard dropped a Twin Lakes Conference boys golf match on Friday, May 2 at the Lake City Country by the final score of 151-173 to the South Central Calhoun Titans.

Three purple-and-gold players shot a round of 43 as they were Houston Nielsen, Tyler Hansen and Weston Nielsen, and Carson Schneider added a score of 44.

Bulldog girls sweep NCC triangular

ALGONA—Turning in the top four scores of the day, the Algona Bulldog girls golf squad rolled to a North Central Conference triangular win held at the River Road Golf Course on Friday, May 2.

The red-and-black’s team score of 188 easily topped the Humboldt Wildcats’ score of 213 while Clarion-Goldfield/Dows took third place with a team total of 256.

AHS boys golfers split NCC match at Humboldt

HUMBOLDT—The Algona Bulldog boys golf team went on the road Friday, May 2 in a North Central Conference triangular and split the match against Humboldt and Clarion-Goldfield/Dows at the Humboldt Country Club.

Humboldt placed first in the conference match with a team score of 157 as the red-and-black placed second with a team total of 161, and Clarion-Goldfield/Dows took third with a 198 score.

Bollinger third in both shot put and discus at Garner

GARNER— A pair of third place finishes by senior Brennen Bollinger highlighted the performances of the North Union Warrior boys track team at the Cardinal Relays in Garner on Tuesday, April 29.

The green-black-and-silver finished in ninth place on the team standings with 29 points. Bollinger finished third in both the shot put with a toss of 42’ 2¾” and the discus with a throw of 127’ 9”.

WB-M girls win three golds at Lake City

LAKE CITY—West Bend-Mallard won three events to highlight the performances of the purple-and-gold at the Ross Samuelson Co-Ed Relays on Friday, May 2.

The Wolverines finished in sixth place in the nine-team field with 57 team points as the host school Sioux Central won the team title with 146 team points.

Golden Bear girls win distance medley relay

FOREST CITY—A Bishop Garrigan first place showing in the distance medley relay highlighted the performances of the black-and-gold along with the North Union Warrior girls track squads on Tuesday, April 29 at the Forest City Girls Invitational.

The Golden Bears finished in fourth place in the Class B team standings with a team total of 93 points and North Union was sixth with a team score of 42 points on Tuesday evening.

Algona girls win Class A title at Forest City

FOREST CITY—On the strength of four first place finishes along with seven runner-up showings, the Algona Bulldogs girls track squad won the team title in Class A at the Forest City Girls Invitational on Tuesday, April 29.

The red-and-black amassed a total of 170.5 points during the evening to edge out Clear Lake’s second place score of 166.

Buscher earns medalist honor at Britt

BRITT—Gabby Buscher earned the medalist as the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bear girls golf squad took a Top of Iowa Conference triangular on Tuesday, April 29.

The black-and-gold placed first with a team total of 194 as Lake Mills was second with a score of 209 and West Hancock had no team score with just one golfer.

Buscher had the low round of the day with her nine-hole total of 40 followed by Hanna Merron with a score of 47 for the Golden Bears.

Weydert places 14th at Poky Invite

POCAHONTAS—Emma Weydert placed 14th overall to highlight the performances of the West Bend-Mallard Wolverine girls golf squad at the Pocahontas Invitational held on Tuesday, April 29.

The purple-and-gold finished in fifth place in the team standings with a team score of 492. Emma Weydert had the low score for the Wolverines with her 18-hole total of 54-52—106 for 14th place overall.

BGHS golfers host league triangular

LIVERMORE—Bishop Garrigan hosted North Iowa and North Union in a Top of Iowa Conference triangular golf meet played at the Spring Valley Golf Course on Thursday, May 1 as both the boys and girls teams played.

For the girls, Bishop Garrigan had the low score of the day with a team total of 200 while North Union had just three golfers and no team score.

Bulldog boys win Algona Invitational golf tourney

ALGONA—Posting four of the top five scores of the day, the Algona Bulldog boys golf team won the team title at the annual Algona Invitational held at the Eagle Hills Golf Course on Saturday, April 26.

The red-and-black posted a team score of 321 to top the five-team field of squads as the Forest City Indians finished in second place with a team total of 327.

Algona distance medley quartet placed 4th at Drake Relays

DES MOINES—So far this season, the Algona Bulldog boys track team has put up some outstanding times and distances, including setting a couple of new school records.

On April 24-26, the red-and-black had a chance to compete with the big dogs at the 115th running of the annual Drake Relays inside Drake Stadium and came on Saturday with some more solid performances.

BG, NU girls run at 51st annual ELC Relays

ESTHERVILLE—Both the Bishop Garrigan and North Union girls track squads competed in the 51st annual Estherville-Lincoln Central Relays held on Friday, April 25.

The black-and-gold finished in sixth place in the team standings with a team score of 58 points while the green-black-and-silver ended up in eighth place with a team total of 41 points.

AHS girls runner-ups at Sheryl Maahs Relays

SPIRIT LAKE—On the strength of winning four different events, the Algona Bulldog girls track squad finished in second place at the annual Sheryl Maahs Co-Ed Relays on Tuesday, April 22.

The red-and-black’s team total of 129 points was topped only by Spirit Lake’s first place score of 147. Charli Dodds was the only individual winner for the Bulldogs as she crossed the finish line first in the 800-meter run in 2:29.14.
