Funeral Mass for Mike St  John was held Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish – St  Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Burial was held in Calvary Cemetery in Algona. Visitation was from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10 at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Algona.

Duane Fred Habeger, son of Fred and Charlotte Habeger, was born July 22, 1930, on a farm north of Bancroft.  He attended Bancroft Country School, Ledyard School, moved to Burt in 5th grade and was 16 when he graduated from Burt High School, May 1947. He took short courses in agriculture at Iowa State University.  

June 16, 1939 - December 30, 2024

Joan Mary Loss was born June 16, 1939, in Kossuth County, daughter of Joseph and Alice (Forburger) Krieps. She grew up in Wesley graduating from Wesley High School in 1957. Joan married Merle J. Loss on Aug. 7, 1957, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley.

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our wonderful mother, Barbara Metzger. She passed away peacefully on Saturday morning Jan. 4, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at the Good Samaritan Society-Algona.

A funeral service for Craig was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burt. Burial was held in St. Luke’s Lutheran Cemetery in Fairville. Visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5 at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Algona.

Craig Lewis Steven was born on July 12, 1952, to Everett Leonard Steven and Doris Alberta (Genrich) Steven at St. Ann’s Hospital in Algona.

Dick Manske passed away on Dec. 30 at Kossuth Regional Health Center after a courageous health battle. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by people who loved him. He was 71 years old. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend who made a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Funeral Service for Ordean Kabrick of Bancroft will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024, at the United Lutheran Church in Ringsted. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church on Saturday prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Bancroft with military honors conducted by McKinnon American Legion Post 377.

Alice Mae Luedtke, the youngest child of Ernest and Dora (Manning) Luedtke was born on Nov. 23, 1928, on the family farm in Lotts Creek Township, rural Lone Rock. She was baptized on Dec. 16, 1928. Her sponsors were Alvina Manning and Arthur Luedtke. On April 18, 1943, she was confirmed. Alice passed away on Dec. 13, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society in Algona at the age of 96 years.

Patricia “Pat” (Phelan) Anderson passed away on Nov. 22, 2024, at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Prior to her admission to the hospital she had been residing at Homestead in Algona since November 2023, when she and her husband Dave moved there from their acreage in rural Burt.
