ALGONA—Coming into Saturday evening’s Class 3A Region No. 8 regional final, the talk was that the junior guard, Claire Turner of Spirit Lake, was one of the best players around.

After her 32 minutes of play in the contest, the Indian guard left no doubt as she poured in a game-high 28 points to lead the 12^th-ranked Indians to a 61-53 victory over eighth-rated Algona to advance to the girls state basketball tournament.
