Southdale trailer park concern for neighbors

ALGONA — The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors directed county attorney Todd Holmes to draft a letter to help deal with a possible nuisance involving the former Southdale trailer park.
Southdale Homeowners Association Properties board members approached the supervisors during the July 31, meeting with concerns about what is happening in the trailer park. The trailer park is located east of the association homes.

Shane and Devon (Groen) Curry of Lu Verne are the proud parents of a baby girl, Carter Olivia, born Tuesday, June 19 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion. She weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces and was 21.5 inches long at birth. Maternal grandparents are Doug and Cathy Groen of Algona. Paternal grandparents are Wayne Curry and Gabi Hawkins. Welcoming baby Carter home in older sister Peyton.

 
 

60th class reunion held in Titonka's Buffalo Activity center

TITONKA — One came from Texas. Another came from two blocks away. Both were part of the 60th class reunion of the 1958 graduating class of Titonka Consolidated School on Saturday, July 28.
The reunion was held at the old Titonka Consolidated School building, which is now the Buffalo Creek Activity Center.

It's Fair Time!!!

Preparing for the Kossuth County Fair never gets old for Judi Bruhm, one of the leaders of the Fenton Forwards 4-H group. She and others were at the fairground on Saturday putting together their booth, which included a static exhibit featuring food, personal development and home improvement.
“Everybody’s excited,” she said. “They have been putting in long hours and late nights.”

Toy tractors at museum

ALGONA — At least 75 (toy) tractors pulling farm equipment rolled into town just in time for the Kossuth County Fair on Saturday.
“I think this is absolutely wonderful. It will be fun putting them around the museum,” said Ron Lohman, curator for the Kossuth County Agriculture & Motorsports Museum. “It reminds me of being a kid.”

Special quilt for a special lady

FENTON — Meredith Tigges is sewing a quilt for the Kossuth County Fair. When the fair is over, she plans on giving it to her grandmother.
“I think she would really like this quilt because whenever she covers up with it she will think of us and her family,” Tigges said.

Miracle on the 13th

NORTH OF WESLEY — Jack and Jill are defying the odds.
Twins! The twins were born on Friday, July 13, on Greg and Jaci Eden’s horse ranch.
“It has been a very big scare but exciting to have two live foals!” Jaci said. “At Iowa State University large animal hospital, they call it a miracle.”
Lacy, 7, carried full term – 11 months, 11 days – and gave birth to her twin colts five minutes apart.
 

Suidae opens new chapter at former Armory

ALGONA —Wednesday afternoon, July 19, marked the grand opening of the new Suidae location, just outside town at what was until recently the Iowa National Guard Armory building. The Algona area is where Suidae was first established. Now, they have four clinics in three states: Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska. The move into the building marks another new chapter for the business.
