LONE ROCK — A funeral service was held for Marjorie Jean Rath at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at the Lone Rock Presbyterian Church. Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at the Lone Rock Presbyterian Church 

Marjorie Jean (Wilson) Rath was born on Sept. 14, 1924, in Bellingham, Ill., the daughter of Renix and Isabel (Roy) Wilson. She attended country school through the eighth grade. Prior to her marriage, she worked for many people in their homes. 

On Nov. 26, 1941, Marjorie married Clinton Rath at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She was a hard working farm wife. She always had to be doing something and could never sit still. In 1947, she and Clinton purchased a farm in the rural Lone Rock area. In addition to farming, they operated Rath Hardware in Lone Rock for 12 years until selling the business in 1989. 

Marjorie was a tough lady that had been through a lot. She made sure her family was always fed. Even when she was in the care center, she still offered to take her whole family out for supper. Marjorie loved being surrounded by her family. She also enjoyed gift giving and baking. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor. 

In retirement, she kept a lifelong interest in gardening and working with flowers. She enjoyed making the wedding flowers for her children. 

Marjorie died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017 at the Algona Manor Care Center. She was 93. 

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Heifner of Lone Rock; daughter-in-law, Arla (Herb) Kintigh of Spencer; son-in-law, Roger (Letty) Henriksen of Lone Rock; grandchildren, Julie (Tim) Lynch of Fenton, Bruce (Nancy) Heifner of Pella, Kelly (Jeff) Gisch of Lone Rock, Matt (Brandi) Henriksen of Fenton, Jenny (Mike) Cummins of Armstrong; 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death is her parents; husband, Clinton; son, Gary Rath; daughter, Cindy Henriksen and son-in-law, Robert Heifner.
