Accident Reports

Motorcycle Fatality

On July 2 at about 11:48 p.m. the Kossuth County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call of a motorcycle in the ditch near the corner of 240th St. and 140th Ave., about 3/4 miles south of the Oak Lake entrance. Algona EMS and officers from the sheriff's office, Algona Police Department and Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene.

STOLEN VEHICLES

On May 19, 2022, the Kossuth County Sheriff's Office took a report of a missing 2003 Chevy Suburban near the Hwy. 9 and 70th Ave. area west of Swea City. The vehicle was entered as stolen. On May 20 this same vehicle was stopped in Freeborn County in Minnesota and was found to be driven by Jacob Govern, 24, of Ledyard. Govern is facing charges in Freeborn County and a warrant was issued out of Kossuth County for the theft of the vehicle.
