Allen Dean Schultz was born May 8, 1943, on the Schultz family farm North of Algona, son of Arthur and Kathryn (Quick) Schultz. The family farmed in Whittemore and he attended Whittemore High School. After high school, Allen attended a trade school for mechanics in Kansas City.  When he graduated school in 1962, he returned home to start his first and most influential job at Martin’s Auto Body in Whittemore.
Allen enlisted in the Army from 1964-1967. He was stationed as a mechanic in Germany. He received a National Defense Service Medal Expert (Rifle). Upon honorable discharge, he returned to “Martin’s.” In October of 1967, he married Anita Moritz at St Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. In 1975, they opened Algona Frame & Auto Body with his brother Gary and his wife Mary Schultz. Gary and Mary moved a few years later and Allen and Anita continued the business. He continued to keep a watchful eye and lend a hand on fun projects after retiring in 2012.  He loved to come to the office and visit customers and friends.
Allen and Anita were head of the New Dimension at St. Cecelia Catholic Church with Mac, Marion, Shirley and Wayne. They helped with funeral dinners and fall dinners. He enjoyed designing the “windows” on the old Catholic fair stand. He would set up and take down every year.  He was a longtime usher at 11 a.m. Sunday Mass. His grandkids were not far behind him putting up kneelers or standing in back with him. Allen and Anita enjoyed long motorcycle trips in early years, camping with his brothers, kids, and grandkids on many adventures; and many trips with his mom and in-laws including Branson. He was an amazing carpenter with great talent.  He remodeled his kids’ homes with inspiration and love.
Allen was a loving husband, amazing father and a proud papa.  He loved working with people at the shop; to him it was never a “job”, he enjoyed what he did and he appreciated all the friends and people he met along the way. Employees over the years were treated as family.  Allen loved his family, he was a best friend and a non-judgmental ear to all of them.  His grandkids were his pride and joy.
Allen Dean Schultz passed away surrounded by his family on Monday morning, Dec. 12, 2016, after a courageous, positive fight against cancer.
Allen is survived by his wife of 49 years, Anita; his three children, Rob (Deedee) McCall Schultz, Randy (Codi) Schultz, and Renee (Jerimie) Harris, all of Algona; six grandchildren, Hank (Ashleigh) McCall, Owen and Kaylee Zimmerman, Dori Harris, and Eliza and Ryder Schultz; and 2 great–grandchildren, Aubreigh and Alexandra McCall.  He is also survived by his father-in-law, Robert Moritz of Boone; his brother Gary (Mary) Schultz Browerville, Minn.; his sister-in-law, Julie Schultz (Rich) of West Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Sean Allen Schultz; his mother-in-law Betty Moritz; a brother, Mel; and a sister-in-law, Gloria Renz.
