A funeral Mass for Marty McGuire, 81, of Algona, was held Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish - St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bancroft. The funeral was livestreamed on the Divine Mercy YouTube page. Burial followed at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Bancroft with military honors conducted by the Bancroft American Legion.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Marian Strayer on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 1-4 p.m. at the Colts Corner Community Room, 503 4th St. NE, Belmond, Iowa.

Donna Rae Powers Reed, age 87, passed away from a long-term illness on Jan. 25, 2024, at the Ovation Sienna Hills assisted living facility near St. George, Utah. Donna was born in New Castle, Ind. on Dec. 18, 1936, but spent most of her childhood in Algona. She moved to Texas to attend Texas Tech University and lived most of her adult life in Lubbock and Granbury, Texas.

Funeral services for James Thornton will be held on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Whittemore.

A memorial Mass and Celebration of Life for Debra A. Kollasch, will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish - St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whittemore. Her family will greet people following the Mass at a reception in St. Michael’s Parish Center.

Dean Edward Ulrich Sr., the son of Donald J. and Eleanor (McCoy) Ulrich, was born Aug. 10, 1938. Dean grew up in Fort Dodge. He was the first graduating class from St. Edmonds High School in 1956. He then graduated from Palmer College in Davenport.

Robert (Bob) Thies, 74, of Algona, died in Algona in the presence of family Jan. 16, 2024.

Bob was born in Odebolt, in 1949, to Rachel and Pat Thies. Bob grew up on the family farm where he was the 3rd of The Lucky Seven children of Pat and Mary Thies.

A funeral Mass for Mary Schmitt, 101, of Whittemore, was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, at Divine Mercy Parish - St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whittemore. Burial followed at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Whittemore. A visitation took place  from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 28, at St. Michael’s Church Hall in Whittemore. A rosary was recited there beginning at 2:45 p.m. and a prayer service began at 5 p.m.

Chris Eugene Rochleau, age 49, passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 26, 2024, after a long hard-fought battle with cancer.

November 3, 1947 - December 30, 2023

Joyce Hill was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She left this world on Dec. 30, 2023, at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with illness.

Visitation for Beverly R. Bolte was held on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. Services were held on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Cylinder. Pastor Duane Miesner officiated. Interment was at St. Luke’s Lutheran Cemetery in Cylinder.

We are sad to announce the passing of Chevelle “Chevy”  Awe on the morning of Dec. 19 2023, in Mason City at the age of 44 from a cardiac event.

Mass of Christian Burial was  held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Edward William Crawford, age 101, of St. Cloud, who passed away on Sunday, Jan. 14 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend Jeremy Ploof officiated. Burial, with full military honors, was in the St. Joseph Parish Cemetery in Waite Park at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.

Sharon Lee Reutzel, 76, of Burt, passed away, Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona surrounded by her loved ones. Per Sharon’s wishes, she was cremated and there will be no services. Memorials may be directed to Sharon’s immediate family. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Algona.
