November 2, 1932 - March 11, 2023

Wallace Henry Logemann was born Nov. 2, 1932, in Ledyard, the son of Engelbart F. and Helen Marie (Ploeger) Logemann. He grew up on a farm near Ledyard graduating from Ledyard High School in 1950. He served in the United States Army receiving the Defense Service Medal.

April 20, 1934 - March 9, 2023

Violet (Smith) Pergande, 88, of Clarion, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023, at the Kanawha Community Home.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Wednesday.

Rosanne Schmit , age 88, of Algona passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, March 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Parish - St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Burial took place at Calvary Cemetery in Algona. Visitation was held on Sunday, March 12 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Lentz Funeral home in Algona.

Funeral services for E. Thurman Gaskill will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Corwith. Burial will be in the Corwith Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023, at the Corwith Community Center. Memorials will be directed to the Iowa State University Foundation and the School of Agriculture.

Daniel Charles Kollasch was born in Algona, Iowa on May 14, 1993, to Jennifer (Degen) Eichenberger and Steve Kollasch. Danny graduated from North Sentral Kossuth High School in 2012. After graduation Danny attended North Iowa Area Community College where he studied sports management.

Marguerite Laubenthal, 92, of Wesley, died Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society in Algona. A funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 13 at Divine Mercy Parish – St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wesley. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Wesley. Visitation was Sunday, March 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Wesley with a rosary beginning at 2 p.m.

Steven Schaffer, 70, of Algona, passed away on Monday Feb. 27, 2023, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church in Algona, with military rites conducted by the Iowa Army National Guard Honor Guard, the Hagg-Turner American Legion Post #90 and the VFW Post #2541 of Algona. Visitation was from 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona.

Dorothy Weishaar, age 93, of Algona passed away on March 3, 2023, at the Kossuth Regional Hospital in Algona. Mass of Christian Burial was 11 a.m.  Thursday at the Divine Mercy Catholic Parish – St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Visitation was 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona.

A Funeral Mass for Darlene Bernhard, 90, of Britt, was held Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish - St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Burial took place at the St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Bishop Garrigan Chapel in Algona. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church in Algona with Pastor Walter Reemtsma and Pastor Howard Batt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Charlotte Wehrspann, age 94 of Ottosen, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023, at the Algona Manor in Algona. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church in West Bend. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in Ottosen. Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 27 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in West Bend. Lentz Funeral Home of West Bend is assisting the family.

Dianna passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023, at State Center Care Initiatives in State Center where she had been on hospice care since July 2022.

James B. Modrell, 87, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, in Mesa, Ariz. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 13 at First United Methodist Church in Algona.
