By Molly Montag, News Correspondent

Homeowners who disconnect illegal footing drains from the city sanitary sewer system may be eligible to receive money from the City of Algona to defray costs.

The Algona City Council on Monday, April 7, unanimously approved allocating $150,000 for the cost-share program. Described as a pilot program, the effort would pay up to 50 percent of eligible expenses for the disconnection with a limit of $2,500, for each disconnection.
