January 29, 1939 - September 28, 2024
Myrna Pauline Hinz, 85, of Emporia, Kan. entered eternal rest on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family, having battled bone marrow cancer for the last several years.
She was born on Jan. 29, 1939, in Des Moines to Paul and Fern Northrop. She was raised on a farm in Lu Verne and graduated in 1956.
On July 1, 1956, she was united in marriage to Myron Hinz in Lu Verne. To this union they were blessed with four children and were married 66 years.
The family moved to Lebo, Kan. in 1973, where Myron established his backhoe business. Myrna was a hard worker and had a few jobs over the years, but primarily was homemaker and helpmate to Myron, even driving a dump truck when needed.
Myrna loved music and singing all of her life and was a past member of the Sweet Adelines and the Choralaires, but most of all loved singing in church. Her church family was very important to Myrna, and she could be found helping in the kitchen, cleaning, helping make quilts and attending Bible studies.
Myron and Myrna retired to Emporia in 2002. They loved to travel and over the years were able to visit all 50 states. The entire family went on an Alaska cruise in 2016, to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.
She always said her greatest accomplishment in life were her four children: Terry Sigmund (Don) of North Fort Myers, Fla.; Rick Hinz (Bess) of Andover, Kan.; Michael Hinz (Christy) of Cape Coral, Fla.; and Randy Hinz of Wichita, Kan. She is also survived by five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron in Jan. 2023. Also preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters, Elda Northrop and Lynda Martin, and one brother, Dennis Northrop. In lieu of plants or flowers, Myrna requested donations be sent to Messiah Lutheran Church, 1101 Neosho Street, Emporia, Kansas 66801.
