Monte Harken, age 46, of Mason City, Iowa and formerly of Algona, passed away on Dec.18, 2016, at the Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa in Mason City.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 23, at the Belmond Cemetery in Belmond. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 22, at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona.
Monte Dean Harken, the son of Gary Thomas and Hildred (Lundgren) Harken, was born on Feb. 12, 1970, in Iowa City. Monte had worked as an automobile mechanic. He enjoyed fishing, camping, races and working on vehicles.
Left to cherish Monte’s memory are his sisters, Monica (Dave) Stauffer of Belle Plaine, Minn. and Mynet (Bruce) Anderson of Trimont, Minn.; nieces and nephews, Richelle, Courtney, Brett and Tanner; a great niece, Samara; step-mother, JoAnn Harken of Algona; step-brothers, Jay (Deb) Anliker of Wausau, Wis.; Jeff (Dawn) Anliker of Manson; step-sisters, Deb (Joe) Mirabeli of Berwyn, Ill.; Diane (Dave) Koppen of Whittemore; Patti (Dave) Christensen of Bicknell, Ind.; and many step-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
