Funeral service for Martha “Marty” Illg will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Algona. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 17 at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Algona.

Martha “Marty” Ann Illg was born Feb. 25, 1945, in Blakesburg, the daughter of James and Regena (Bates) Sinclair. Martha attended country school in Moravia and graduated in 1963. She continued her education at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge graduating with her Registered Nursing degree.

After graduation she worked as an R.N. working at North Central Iowa Mental Health Center and the Humboldt Care Center. She eventually started working at Trinty Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge for 26 years. Martha also was a clinical nursing instructor for the Iowa Central Community College before she retired in 2008.

August of 1964, Martha was united in marriage to Gary Anderson in Albia. To this union five children were born. The couple later divorced. Martha met George Illg and on Sept. 5, 1997, they got “their ducks in a row” at St. Joe. They lived on the farm where George continued to farm. From this marriage, Martha added five stepchildren to her family.

Martha loved her flowers, reading, sewing, baking, making greeting cards and happy hour. Martha loved to spend time with her family and friends. In recent years she loved going to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events.

Martha Illg died Sunday, April 13 at her home surrounded by her family. She was 80.

She is survived by her children, Michelle (Curtis) George of Humboldt, Stacy (Jason) Jeffers of Dakota City, Sheri (Terry) Ahlrich of LeMars, Mitchell (Mary) Anderson of Ruthven and Michael (Angie) Anderson of Eagle Grove; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings Marilyn Douglas of Kalispell, Mont., Madelyn (Mike) Tetmeyer of Clear Lake, Milan (Dawn) Sinclair of Independence, Mo., Mona (Bill) Cartensen of Casa Grande, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, 1st husband Gary, brother Marion Sinclair, brother Merle Sinclair, sister-in-law Jan Sinclair and step-son Curtis Illg.
