BGHS go 3-3 in own tourney

ALGONA—Bishop Garrigan went 3-3 on the day in their own tournament as Lake Mills won the event with a perfect 6-0 mark and Garner-Hayfield/Ventura was second at 4-2.
Both Clarion-Goldfield and North Iowa also went 3-3 in the tournament as Manson Northwest Webster was 2-4 and Eagle Grove was winless in all six of their matches.
The Golden Bears opened the day with a 21-12 and 23-21 loss to North Iowa.  Emma Fogarty was the top server in the loss at 7-of-7 with one ace as Whitney Hovey had seven kills, Jenna Boelter had 12 set assists with Maddie Meister coming up with nine digs and Katie Noonan, Aubrey McEnroe and Boelter each came up with one block.
The black-and-gold fought back with a 21-13, 17-21 and 16-14 win over Manson as Fogarty was 16-of-17 serving with three aces and Hovey added six kills.  Boelter had 19 set assists while teammate Maddie Meister had 12 digs and Courtney Kirsch recorded a pair of blocks at the net.
Garner-Hayfield/Ventura was the opponent in match number three as the Cardinals topped the Golden Bears by the score of 22-20 and 21-13 in that match.
Boelter went 9-of-9 serving with a pair of service aces and had 12 set assists with Caitlin Thilges having a team-best five kills and Hovey came up with nine digs.
Bishop Garrigan rebounded with a 21-14 and 21-11 victory over Eagle Grove.  Hovey was 11-of-12 serving with three aces as Thilges had four kills with Boelter having 12 set assists.  Thilges and McEnroe both recorded two blocks at the net as Fogarty and Boelter each came up with four digs in the win.
Fifth-ranked Lake Mills top the black-and-gold 21-11 and 21-8 in the next match.  McEnroe was 4-of-4 serving with Thilges having five kills, Boelter added nine set assists as both Hovey and Fogarty came up with six digs along with one block at the net from Hovey, Kirsch, Noonan and Thilges.
