Memorial Day in Lone Rock

Memorial Day services were held at the Lone Rock American Legion Post #557. Commander Darrell Nyman opened with the advancing of the colors. Mary Behrends spoke on the Legion and Auxiliary’s mission statement. Quoted parts of it, “In the Spirit of service not self”; ”for God and Country”.

Iowa Libraries Adventure Pass

ALGONA—The Algona Public Library announces it will now offer the Iowa Libraries Adventure Pass, a service that provides free family passes to museums and attractions in Iowa.

The 2023 summer interns begin work

ALGONA—A kick-off breakfast for participants in the 2023 Kossuth/Palo Alto County Economic Development Corporation Summer Intern Program was held on Wednesday, May 24 at the Columbia Events Center in Algona, The program includes 15 interns spending the summer months working in Kossuth and Palo Alto Counties.

Approval given for KRHC facility condition assessment

ALGONA—A report was given on the activities held for staff during National Hospital Week at the first of two Kossuth Regional Health Center Board of Trustees meetings held in May.

KRHC CEO Dar Elbert said events included a catered lunch for all staff, an ice cream social, distribution of May Day baskets, a team spirit day and a staff photo.

START YOUR ENGINES: IT’S TIME FOR PARTY IN THE PARK

ALGONA—”Start Your Engines” will be the theme for the first Party of the Park event of 2023 set for Wednesday, June 7 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on the Carnegie lawn in Algona. The kick-off to the summer season celebration will feature local race drivers and their cars. Musical entertainment will be provided by Spenser Rahm. The annual event is sponsored by the Algona Area Chamber of Commerce.

Reece Joseph  Dahlhauser

Ethan and April (Peterson) Dahlhauser of Whittemore announce the birth of their son, Reece Joseph, on May 22, 2023, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center.

He weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces and was 18 inches long.

Reece is welcomed home by siblings Harrison, Everett and Jedd.

Maternal grandparents are Travis and Judy Peterson of Jewell.

Paternal grandparents are Kim Dahlhauser and Jeff Stillman of Emmetsburg.

Flags dedicated during Memorial Day service

ALGONA—Twelve flags were dedicated to the Avenue of Flags during the Memorial Day service held on Monday, May 29 on the lawn of the Kossuth County Courthouse in Algona. American Legion Post 90 and VFW Post 2541 conducted the service.
