For the first time in its nearly 50-year history, the Iowa State Dance Team Association (ISDTA) held a qualifying round for the state solo dance championships.

More than 970 soloists from dance teams and color guards across the state were at Newton High School, Berg Middle School in Newton, Nevada High School and Middle School for the first-ever ISDTA State Solo Qualifier on Oct. 27-28.
