Freshman Cade Winkel poured in a career-high 28 points to help lead the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bear boys’ basketball team to an 84-64 Top of Iowa Conference win in a contest played in Algona on Friday, Dec. 9.
The freshman connected on 12-of-15 field goals from the floor and hit 4-of-6 free throws to go along with grabbing eight rebounds, passed out a pair of assists, came up with one steal and blocked one shot in the game for the black-and-gold.
The Golden Bears started fast in the contest, jumping out to a 19-7 lead at the conclusion of the first quarter of play. The home team also held a 39-31 advantage at the halftime break and enjoyed a 60-52 lead going into the final eight minutes of action.
