BANCROFT — A funeral Mass for Valeria C. Lynch was held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at 11 a.m., at St. John’s Catholic Church, Bancroft, with the Rev. Sunny Dominic officiating. Burial was in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Bancroft.
Valeria Catherine Lynch was born Jan. 10, 1925, in Bancroft, daughter of William and Johanna (Ovel) Vaske. She grew up in Bancroft where she attended St. John’s Catholic School. Valeria was married to Dennis Lynch on Jan. 3, 1949 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bancroft. They farmed until 1971 when they moved into Bancroft. She worked in the school Hot Lunch Program for 18 years.
Valeria enjoyed gardening, oil painting, sewing, quilting and playing cards. She loved to cook and bake. She was known for her delicious pies and divinity. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Altar Society and CD of A.
Valeria had a strong faith and deep devotion to our Blessed Mother. She touched many lives by being a witness for the Lord. She invested deeply in relationships with her family, friends and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her wisdom, wit, and sense of humor will be remembered by many for the memories she created. Valeria was affectionately known as “Grandma V.V.” to her children and grandchildren. 
Valeria C. Lynch passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Hawkeye Care Center, Bancroft at the age of 92.
She is survived by six children, Alice (Gary) Sires of New Castle, Wash., Jean (Charlie) Schmidt of Garden City, Minn., Jerry (Genney) Lynch of Owatonna, Minn., Phil (Jane) Lynch of Hastings, Minn., Sandy (Kurt) Welp of Bancroft, and Shirley (Mark) Chelleen of Urbandale; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dennis on October 16, 1997; two sisters, Adella Ulses and Lucille Fangman; and six brothers, Leander, Clarence, Marvin, Emil, Linus, and Francis in infancy.
