Three-peat for Warriors

Lead Summary

For the third straight summer, the North Union Warriors will be a participant in the Class 2A state softball tournament at the Harlan and Hazel Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge.
The green-black-and-silver scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and then used great defense and a strong pitching performance in the circle from Anna Ingalls to defeat 14th ranked West Lyon by the score of 3-1 in the regional final played at Swea City on Monday, July 10.
“It feels great to get back to state for the third straight year,” said senior centerfielder Kyarsten Mullen.  “We all held together well and did not panic when they got runners on base.  They have a really good team and I am really proud of our team with the way we played.”
After Ingalls mowed down the Wildcats 1-2-3 in the top of the first, the home team got busy early as Ingalls led off the inning with a single followed by a sacrifice by Mullen and both runners moved up 60 feet when the visitors threw the bunt away.
Maddie Rolling laced a double in the left-center field gap to easily score both runners.  Kate Anderson was retired on an infield fly out before Breanna Anderson drew a walk and Rory McClellan singled to load the bases.
