SWEA CITY—Big plans are in the making for Swea City’s quasquicentennial celebration Friday through Sunday, June 25-27.
The community was established in 1895 and planned to have a 125th anniversary of that a year ago, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the celebration was postponed. The original plan included an all-school reunion, but that was scuttled for this year as well because when planning was taking place and details would have needed final confirmation months ago, there were still unknowns in terms of masking, social distancing and holding large events. The quasquicentennial committee opted to continue with the event as a whole, similar in fashion to the annual community fun days.
