Algona and Bishop Garrigan shot in the Mohawk 50 trap meet on May 5 at Ventura.

Other teams present were Mason City, Lake Mills, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura and Osage.

Individual placings were: Walker Eilerts placing 1st with a perfect score of 50 and winning the shoot off. Aiden Riggert placed 3rd after a shoot off and a score of 50.

Algona girls win NCC dual meet crown

IOWA FALLS—Completing a perfect seven match run through the North Central Conference, the Algona Bulldog girls golf squad won the league dual title.

The latest wins came on Tuesday, May 6 at the Meadow Hills Golf Course as the red-and-black’s team total of 186 easily out-distanced Iowa Falls-Alden’s score of 214 and Webster City’s total of 219.

Henderson fires three-under par 32 for Warriors

BANCROFT—North Union’s Drew Henderson carded a season-best three-under par 32 to lead the green-black-and-silver to a Top of Iowa Conference triangular boys golf victory on Tuesday, May 6 at the North Kossuth Golf Club.

The Warriors’ team total of 158 topped Garner-Hayfield/Ventura’s team score of 161 as West Hancock was third with a team total of 176.

BG girls win four events at E-Hawk Relays

EMMETSBURG—The Bishop Garrigan Golden Bear girls track squad won four events at the E-Hawk Girls Relays held on Monday, May 12.

The black-and-gold finished in third place in the meet with a team score of 55 points as Estherville-Lincoln Central won the team title with a score of 69 points.

Julia Swift was a double winner for the Golden Bears as the freshman won the 400-meter dash in 1:07.74 and took the 800-meter run with a time of 2:45.41.

WB-M golf teams sweep league match

WEST BEND—Both the West Bend-Mallard Wolverine boys and girls golf teams were victorious in a Twin Lakes Conference match played at the West Bend Golf & Country Club on Friday, May 9 over Manson Northwest Webster.

The purple-and-gold girls won the final score of 239-285 and swept the medals with the top two scores. Emma Weydert led the way with a nine-hole total of 48 to take the medalist and Avery Weydert shot a 59 for the runner-up medal.

AHS boys golfers top Golden Bears 156-176

LIVERMORE—This year’s cross-town boys golf match went to the Algona Bulldogs on Thursday, May 8 by the final score of 156-176 at the Spring Valley Golf Course over the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bears.

Nathan Manske of Algona was the meet medalist with a nine-hole total of two-over par 38 as Sam Greteman of Bishop Garrigan earned the runner-up medalist with his round of 39.

Venteicher, AHS girls are NCC runner-ups

FORT DODGE—Placing all six golfers in the top 14, the Algona Bulldog girls golf squad finished in second place at the annual North Central Conference golf tournament held at the Lakeside Golf Course just north of Fort Dodge on Monday, May 12.

The red-and-black’s team total of 390 was topped only by the Clear Lake Lions’ winning team score of 380 on Monday in Fort Dodge.

Golden Bear girls golfers are conference runner-ups

BELMOND—The Bishop Garrigan Golden Bear girls golf squad are the Top of Iowa Conference runner-ups after finishing second in the league meet held at the Belmond Golf & Country Club on Monday, May 12.

The black-and-gold had the second-best score of the day with their team score of 379 with North Union finishing seventh with a 438 total in the nine-team field as Garner-Hayfield/Ventura won the conference title with a team total of 367.

WB-M girls win three events at South O’ Brien Relays

PAULLINA—The West Bend-Mallard Wolverine girls track squad won three events at the South O’Brien Relays held here on Thursday, May 9. The purple-and-gold finished in fifth place in the team standings with 62 points in the seven-team field.

Maddie Fehr was the only individual winner as she won the long jump with a best leap of 14’ 8¼” while a pair of Wolverine relays also took first place.

Grimm places 4th at South O’Brien Relays

PAULLINA—A fourth place showing from Leyden Grimm was the top performance for the West Bend-Mallard Wolverines on Thursday, May 8 at the South O’ Brien Wolverines Relays.

Grimm crossed the finish line in 1:01.68 in the 400-meter hurdles to place fourth as the purple-and-gold ended up in sixth place in the final team standings with 15 points.

WB-M boys run in Twin Lakes Meet

SIOUX RAPIDS—The West Bend-Mallard Wolverine boys track team competed in the Twin Lakes Conference meet held at Sioux Central High School on Tuesday, May 6.

The purple-and-gold scored six points in the meet to earn 12th place in the team standings as Southeast Valley won the league title with a team total of 136 points.

NU girls golf earns first win of season

ARMSTRONG—For the first time this season, the North Union Warrior girls golf squad tasted victory as the green-black-and-silver defeated West Hancock 211-272 in a Top of Iowa Conference match at the Country Greens Golf Course.

Aliyah Jones was the medalist of the meet with her nine-hole score of 45 as all four of the Warrior players recorded a season-best score on Tuesday, May 6.

Bulldog boys split NCC road match

WEBSTER CITY—Heading on the road on Tuesday, May 6 for a North Central Conference triangular, the Algona Bulldog boys golf team split the league match played at the Webster City Public Links Golf Course.

Webster City shot a sizzling team total of 152 to place first, three strokes ahead of Algona’s score of 155 and Iowa Falls-Alden finished in third place with a team total of 175.

Wolverine girls golf at Aurelia

AURELIA—The West Bend-Mallard Wolverine girls golf squad trekked to the Aurelia Golf & Country Club on Thursday, May 8 for a Twin Lakes Conference triangular meet.

Alta-Aurelia placed first with a team score of 190 as Pocahontas Area was the runner-up with a 200 followed by West Bend-Mallard with a 230 and Storm Lake St. Mary’s had just one golfer and no team score.

WB-M boys hit road for league triangular

STORM LAKE—West Bend-Mallard went on the road to the Buena Vista Lake Creek Golf Course for a Twin Lakes Conference boys golf triangular meet on Thursday, May 8.

Alta-Aurelia won the triangular with a score of 166 as Pocahontas Area was second with a 182. West Bend-Mallard took third also with a 182 and Storm Lake St. Mary’s had just two golfers and no team score.

WB-M girls drop league triangular

WEST BEND—Hosting two other schools, the West Bend-Mallard Wolverine girls golf squad dropped a Twin Lakes Conference triangular match played at the West Bend Golf & Country Club on Monday, May 12.

Emmetsburg placed first in the league match with a team score of 217 as Pocahontas Area took second with a total of 221 and West Bend-Mallard placed third with a 229.
