Robert “Bob” B. Carlson of Nisswa, Minn. passed away on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd, Minn. 
Funeral services for Bob will be held on Friday, Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Rev. Steve Benson officiating. 
Bob was born to Axel and Hilma (Johnson) Carlson on April 14, 1930, in Titonka. Growing up on a farm outside of Titonka, Bob graduated from high school and joined the U.S. Army, spending most of his time in Austria. He met Mary Jean Helmers just before his discharge, marrying her on Aug. 7, 1955. Together they had two sons, Robert and Roger, both of whom were born in Algona and one daughter, Julie Ann who was born with a form of cerebral palsy in 1971, passing away in 1979. In 1961, they moved to Brainerd where Bob ran a gas station with auto work for three years. Bob then worked for the United Parcel Service as a mechanic until his retirement. Bob and Mary Jean built a home on Lake Edward and lived there for 30 years. Bob had beat two types of cancer up until now. 
Preceding Bob in death are his parents, Axel and Hilma Carlson, his daughter Julie Ann and his brothers, Raymond, Ralph, John and Philip Carlson. 
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Mary Jean; sons, Robert of Nisswa and Roger (Cindy) Carlson of Brainerd; grandchildren, Robert (Jasmine), James (Ashley), Andrew, Kelsey and Joshua Carlson; great grandchildren, Calvin, Ruby, Eli Gabriel, Cordelia, Theodore and Eleanor Carlson; sisters, Carol Carlson of Burt and Mary Menke of Ledyard; brothers, Paul (Dorothy) Carlson of Algona and Norman (Mary) Carlson of Clarion.
Halvorson Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
