Randy Dean Meyer, the son of Rod and Ellen (Meyer) Meyer, was born in Emmetsburg, on Nov. 17, 1987. He grew up on the family farm near Whittemore and graduated from Algona High School in 2006. He went on to Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg for small engine repair. During high school, Randy worked for Ruhnke Brother’s in Algona and after graduating from college, he began farming with his dad and started a manure pumping business.
He was united in marriage on July 26, 2014, to Janae Tyler at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. Together they had two children; Riley and Everly.  
Randy loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his children and wife Janae. He was a father that would do anything that his children asked of him. He enjoyed dirt biking, riding motorcycles, water sports and fishing. He also enjoyed vacationing, snowmobiling and hunting. Randy was a family man and loved being around people.
Randy died Sept. 6, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City as a result of a farming accident. He was 33.
He is survived by his wife, Janae of Whittemore; son, Riley; daughter, Everly; stepchildren, Jayda Roethler and Porter Reffer; parents, Rod and Ellen Meyer of Whittemore; sisters, Mandy (Kurt) Oetken of Ankeny and Alisha (Dan) Grimm of Grimes; one niece and five nephews; mother-in-law, Cheryl Johnson and many friends. 
Randy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elvin and Eleanor Meyer, paternal grandparents, Ron and Betty Meyer, and aunt and uncle, Elaine and Steven Eckard. 
A funeral service was held on Sept. 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Algona and can be viewed on Trinity Lutheran Church’s Youtube page. Interment will be in Plainview Cemetery in Whittemore. Online condolences may be left at www.oakcrestfuneralservices.com
