Happy New Year! As we turn the calendar to 2021, I am sure that all of us are hopeful for a return to a more normal year.
The Algona Chamber has created our calendar of events with optimism for a return to events and activities. Our year normally begins with our annual meeting in January, however, we made the decision to postpone that event until late April thinking that things would and could be moving by then. Frostbite Olympics is always held the first weekend in February. Last week we made the difficult decision to cancel the indoor activities due to ongoing COVID concerns. There will be no Chili Cook-Off, Pub Trivia and Baconfest this year. It is disappointing to cancel these popular events, however, we need to think safety first. The good news is... Ice Fishing Derby will continue as planned, Saturday, Feb. 6, 8 a.m.-10:30 a.m., at Smith Lake.
