175 Years Ago

Major William Williams, who took over the old fort at Fort Dodge in 1853 and laid out the present city, came to the fort in 1850 as a settler for the troops stationed there. In 1856, when the little Algona settlement began to grow, he sent a stock of goods up to be sold to the settlers.

 

 

All remained sober on July 4th
