ALGONA—A cool spring night drew a total of 66 cars on Thursday, May 6, on the opening evening of dirt track racing at the Kossuth County Speedway in front a nice crowd of brave fans that endured the cool temperatures.
The hobby stock class had the biggest car of the evening with a total of 15 cars while both the modified and sport mods class each had a crew of 13 cars.
The drivers played nice on opening night as four of the six classes’ feature went green-white-checkered after the green flag was dropped at the start of the race. Defending track champion had good nights as four of last year winners were feature winner on opening night.
The modified feature paid out $1,000 to the winner and an automatic berth in the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational Race at Super Nationals in Boone in September.
