Willis "Barney" Gene Erdman, age 79 of Santa Ana, Calif., died, Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at home with his family by his side.

He was born Aug. 14, 1939, in Britt to Alfred E. and Clara E. Conley Erdman of Wesley. He married JoAnn Muckey of Algona on June 17, 1961, at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church, Anaheim, Calif.

Edwin Eugene Asche was born Dec. 26, 1937, in Lakota, the son of Thomas and Jenny (Spear) Asche. He married Gloria Goeke on Sept. 27, 1958, in Elmore, Minn.

Sarah Nell Hovey was born Aug. 25, 1924, in Algona to Henry and Alice (Wise) Phillips. Sarah grew up in Algona and graduated from Algona High School. After high school she worked as a bookkeeper and in day care.

Edward Hanson, 81 of Algona, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at his home. He was born June 6, 1937. Russell Leon Fox came into this world on Sept. 19, 1931. He was born to parents Leo Fox and Matie Graham in Kossuth County. Russ was the fourth of 10 siblings born to this family. He left this world on Nov. 26, 2018, at the Sandhills Care Center in Ainsworth, Neb.

Funeral services for Randall "Randy" Palmer were held Monday, Dec. 17, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Renwick with the Rev. Jim McColley, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.

Nellie Hazel (Sankey) Hauenstein passed away peacefully on Dec. 15 surrounded by her family at the Algona Good Samaritan Center. Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 18 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona, with the Rev. Tom Schlund officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery. Harvey Duane Steven, 85, of Algona passed away Dec. 15 at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Benjamin J. Habeger, the son of Ernie and Elizabeth (Ruger) Habeger was born Oct. 12, 1936, in West Bend, where he was raised and received his education, graduating from the West Bend High School in 1954.

Gloria Lorentz Asche was born Feb. 17, 1938, on the family farm near Elmore, Minn., the daughter of Lawrence and Hattie (Rhode) Goeke. She married Edwin Asche on Sept. 27, 1958, in Elmore, Minn.

Braydyn Matthew Thilges, infant son of Justin and Paige Thilges of Algona, was born sleeping on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center. Private family funeral services were Monday, Dec. 24.

Virginia "Ginny" Schenck, 86, of Lubbock, Texas and formerly Algona, passed away Dec. 5, in Chicago, Ill. Funeral services are Saturday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Algona, with the Rev. Edward Girres as officiant. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery, where Ginny will be laid to rest next to her husband of 61 years, James Schenck. Visitation is 4-6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 14, at Lentz Funeral Home, Algona.

Richard Riley, 89, Algona, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Algona. Memorial services are at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Lentz Funeral Home in Algona, with the Rev. Dr. Loren Shellabarger officiating. Burial is in the Lu Verne Cemetery with military rites conducted by the VFW Post #2541 and the Haag-Turner American Legion Post #90 of Algona. Paul Martin Lauck, 79, West Bend, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, at the Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City following a brief battle with cancer. Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 7, at Peace Lutheran Church, West Bend. Burial followed in the West Bend Cemetery.
