Diann K. Miller

Diann K. Miller, 69, Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, March 7, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City. Visitation was Tuesday, March 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with the funeral at 7 p.m. Visitation with a lunch was held Thursday, March 14 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Burt Presbyterian church. Graveside services are Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Burt Cemetery with a memorial service at 3 p.m. at the Burt Presbyterian church.

Arnie Meyer

Funeral services for Arnie Meyer were Wednesday, March 13 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Cindy Finn and Regina Harrison officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Johnathan R. Anderson

ALGONA — Johnathan R. Anderson, 29, of Algona, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019.

Robert Nock Jr.

., age 70 of Algona, passed away on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. A celebration of life visitation was held on Sunday, March 3 at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona.

Melvin Ricklefs

ALGONA — Melvin James Ricklefs was born Sept. 17, 1930, in Titonka on the family farm, the son of Harry and Tressie (Spear) Ricklefs. He grew up in Titonka and attended Titonka Country School through the eighth-grade. Melvin then started farming with his dad. He farmed the century farm until his retirement in 1998. He milked cows, raised chickens, and grew corn and soybeans.  He loved farming, and every family gathering included conversation about the crops.

Beverly Wichtendahl

Beverly Marie Wichtendahl, age 87, of Council Bluffs, passed away Feb. 28, 2019, at Risen Son Nursing Home in Council Bluffs. 
Beverly was born Oct. 28, 1931 in Bancroft, to the late Samuel and Edna (Rickert) Shipler. She graduated from Bancroft High School in 1949. Beverly married Harlan G. Wichtendahl on Feb. 19, 1950 ,in Algona. They were blessed with three children, Larry, Al and Kim. 

Linda Kay Bahr

Former Livermore resident Linda Kay Bahr passed away on Feb. 25, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society-Algona. She was 81 years old.
Linda Kay Butler was born Nov. 26, 1937, to parents Luther and Maude Humble Butler on her family’s farm south of Livermore. She was raised on that farm and attended Livermore schools. 

Philip Miller

Philip Thomas Miller (Flip) passed away peacefully on Feb. 19, 2019, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born Sept. 9, 1936, in Algona, he was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Harry T. Miller and grandparents Dr. and Mrs. Philip V. Janse. He leaves behind his wife, Brenda; a daughter Tammy Schuring (husband Tim Schuring); and grandson, Aiden Schuring from Huntley, Ill.

ALGONA — Darlene Scuffham, age 81 of Algona, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 7, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona with Rev. Eric Hauan officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Algona. 

JD Andrews

GARNER — JD Andrews, 78, of Garner passed away Friday March 1, 2019, at Mercy One North Iowa Hospice with his loving family by his side. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 5, at 10 a.m., at the Garner United Methodist Church in Garner with Rev. Paul Evans officiating. Burial took place at East Lawn Cemetery in Algona. Visitation was held on Monday at the Garner United Methodist Church in Garner from 4 to 6 p.m.

Johnathan Anderson

Johnathan R. Anderson, 29, of Algona, passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. on Friday, March 1, at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.  Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home. Monte “Coach P” Pearson, 80, Algona, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Society – Algona. He was born Feb. 21, 1939. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 2 at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Algona, with Father Edward Girres officiating. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 1 at St. Cecelia Catholic Church.

Mae “Mazie” Long, 82, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, at her home in Algona. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at First Lutheran Church, Algona, with the Rev. David Grindberg officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Algona. Visitation was 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26, at First Lutheran Church.

Funeral services for Gertrude Richter were held Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Titonka United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Buffalo Township Cemetery.
Gertrude Evelyn Richter was born Oct. 2, 1913, in Lu Verne, the daughter of George and Ann (Stauffacher) Attig. At a young age, they moved to the Titonka area where she attended rural school in a one-room schoolhouse.
