Arleta M. Bunkofske Burlingame, age 100, of Algona, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona.

FENTON — Carol Jane (Bierstedt) Meyer died on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona. She was 80.  
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fenton with the Rev. Mark Resner officiating. Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 18 at St. John Lutheran Church. Interment was at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.

Loren E. Courtney, 97, a longtime resident of Algona and Clarion, died at Hiawatha Care Center on Nov. 16, 2016. 
He was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer’s and had recently fallen and fractured a hip while living in an assisted care memory unit. Loren had lived there for the past four years with his wife, Annabelle.

ALGONA — Susan Jane Mergen, 65, of Algona, died, Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at her home with her family by her side. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church, Algona, with the Rev. Loren Shellabarger officiating. 
Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.  Oakcrest Funeral Services was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Agnes Christ, 91, of Lakota, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at the Westview Care Center in Britt. 
Visitation was held on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, from 4:30-7 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lakota. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastors Judy Wozniak and Judy Junkermeier officiating.

Vernon LeRoy Cole, 68, of Anamosa, formerly of Algona, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren by his side on Oct. 31, 2016, in the Hospice Unit at St Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Larry Wayne Brunsen

Larry Wayne Brunsen, 74, of Milford, passed away at Avera McKennan Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. on Sept. 27 after a lengthy battle with lung disease.
Brunsen graduated from Corwith High School and lived in Wesley before moving to Milford.
He was laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in Spirit Lake.
