Donald Vincent Lickteig, age 90, of Algona passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023,  at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Aug. 21, at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish - St. Cecelia. Visitation was 12:30  p.m. until service time at the Presentation Center. Burial will take place at a later date. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Algona.

A funeral Mass for Kendra Thilges, 61, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Algona, will be held Monday, Aug. 28, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish - St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona with Father Zach Jones and Deacon David Penton officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Algona.  Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Algona.

Children laughing. Dogs romping. Cats meowing. Horses galloping. Freshly decorated holiday cookies. Baby blankets. Ballerina’s dancing. A garden of fresh tomatoes. Saltwater taffy. Sweet corn. Darla loved all of these things. We like to think these were some of the first sights and sounds she saw as crossed through the pearly gates to the afterlife.

A rosary will be recited at 1 p.m. and there will be a scripture prayer service at 3:30 p.m.

Fernando Ruben Cantu was born on Feb. 26, 1948, in Crystal City, Texas; son of Francisco and Teodora (Guerrero) Cantu. He grew up in Crystal City, Texas, graduating from Crystal City High School in 1967.

Virgil Theodore Roethler, 99, of North Liberty, formerly of Algona, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Keystone Place at Forevergreen. A memorial will be held at a later date.

Virgil was born on Jan. 18, 1924, in Bode, the son of Phillip Roethler and Veronica (Faber) Roethler. He was united in marriage to Donna Jean Vrooman on Jan.13, 1949.

Visitation for Violet M. Berkland was 4-7 p.m., Friday, July 28, 2023, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Depew. Funeral service was at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Depew at 10:30 a.m.  on Saturday, July 29 with Pastor Kevin Weeks officiating.

Violet was laid to rest at North St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Depew.
