Michael Francis Schneider, 65 of Morrill, Neb. passed away on Jan. 8, 2018 after losing his battle to cancer. Michael “Mike” was born in Algona, Ia. to William “Bill” and Collette Schneider.

Our mom, Jean Studer was welcomed into the loving hands of our Lord and Savior on Jan. 3, 2018 at 5:20 a.m. surrounded by all her children. She was diagnosed with intestinal cancer in mid-November. The cancer quickly spread to her liver. We feel so blessed that she suffered very little.

John N. Gales, age 81 of Livermore, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Mass of the Christian Burial was held on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livermore with Rev. Randy Schon celebrating. Burial took place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in St. Joe.

A mass celebrating her life was held Monday, Jan. 15, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley, Ia. with her son Deacon Jim Schiltz and Father Tim Johnson officiating. Visitation was from 9 – 11 a.m. followed by mass. 
A memorial will be held Friday Jan. 19 at 1:30 p.m. at Thomas Rest Haven 217 Main St. Coon Rapids, Ia.
Rosemary Rita Ruth Harn Schiltz was born Jan. 28 1926 in Dunderton, Ia. daughter of Ed and Mary Lamb Harn.

Henry “Hank” Charles Seiler of Hampton, formerly of Marshalltown, passed away on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

Mildred (Millie) M. Pentecost, age 90, died on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Mo. following complications of pneumonia. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Algona with Reverend Mr. William Black officiating.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.

Janice R. Harig, 84, of Covington, La., formally of Whittemore passed away on Dec. 31, 2017. A funeral service was held on Jan. 9, 2018 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whittemore with Rev. Edward Girres officiating. Interment was at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetary in Whittemore.

Keith Alan Grimm, the son of Clifford and Rosene (Miller) Grimm was born Dec. 20, 1961, in Algona. He was raised in West Bend and graduated from the West Bend High School in 1980. Keith attended Iowa Lakes Community College for two years before he pursued his passion in farming.

ALGONA — Phyllis Davis, age 80, of Algona passed away on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Algona.  Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona with Rev. Eric Hauan officiating.  Burial will be in Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park at a later date.

Todd Christenson, 65, of Davenport, Ia., formally of Algona, passed away on Jan. 1, 2018. Funeral services were held on Jan. 5 at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. 
Todd was born on Oct. 21, 1952 to Carl Vernon Christenson and LaVera Jean (Williams) Christenson in Des Moines.

Nancy Jean  (Fosnaugh) Bergman of Fallon, Nev. passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 31, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer and COPD.
She is survived by children Pat of San Marcos, Cali., Stephanie (Matt) of Ely, Nev., David (Shari) of Wasilla, Ark. and eight grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Lee Dixon, age 83, of Burt passed away on Sunday Dec. 31, 2017 at his home.  Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Algona, with Rev. Cynthia Finn officiating.  Flag presentation will be conducted by the Carter-Stott VFW Post #5236 of Burt.  Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Lentz Funeral Home of Algona.
