Barbara Joyce Meyer was born July 20, 1937, at home near Burt. She is the daughter of Arie Joyce and Maxine Etna (Mitchell) Dittmer. She grew up on a farm near Burt, attended country school and then graduated from Burt High School in 1955. Prior to her marriage she worked at J.C. Penney and the Algona Reminder newspaper in Algona.

Tammy Brown, age 49 of Burt, passed away on Feb. 2, 2023, at her home. A Celebration of Life will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Lentz Funeral Home in Burt. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the start of the service on Sunday.

Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17 at Oakcrest Funeral Services, Algona.

Kara Long, 44, of Mankato, died Feb. 6, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Kara preferred memorials be given to Mayo Clinic Hospice or BENCHS Humane Society. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family.

A Funeral Mass for Stella Eischen, 98, of Algona, was held Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish - St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Burial took place at the St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bishop Garrigan Chapel in Algona with a rosary beginning at 4 p.m.

Janet Marie Ritchie, 75, of Burt, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, in Iowa. She was born July 20, 1947, in Waterloo to Edward and Margaret (Longberger) Rutledge.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Kellawain “Kelly” Ritchie and one grandson, Jason.

Visitation for Robert A. Mortensen will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church in Swea City.

Funeral Service will be at the First United Methodist Church, Swea City at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11. Robert will be laid to rest at Harrison Township Cemetery in Swea City. Military Honors will be performed by American Legion Post #14, Swea City.

Rose Ann Mondragon was born Sept. 15, 1936, on a farm west of Algona, daughter of Edward and Lucille (Wilson) Rich.  Rose graduated from Algona High School in 1954.

Donna Hurlburt, age 85 of Lone Rock, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 28 at Accura Healthcare in Bancroft. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.
