Wendell Ingebritson, age 90 of Algona, passed away on Wednesday, June 22 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Algona with Rev. Cynthia Finn officiating. Burial will take place at East Lawn Cemetery in Algona with Military Honors conducted by the Iowa National Guard Honor Guard, Algona American Legion Hagg-Turner Post #90 and the Algona VFW Post #2541. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022,  from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona. 

Wendell Dean Ingebritson, the son of Owen and Myrna (Halverson) Ingebritson, was born on Aug. 11, 1931, in Pope Joy. He attended country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Alden High School in 1951. Following school, he joined the Army, serving during the Korean War. Wendell was united in marriage to Lois Cornell to which a daughter was born. On Nov. 26, 1982, he was united in marriage to Leila Caughey at the First United Methodist Church in Algona where he was a faithful and active member. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for 60 years. Wendell spent many years as a mechanic. After retirement, Wendell worked as a custodian at the Methodist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his yard and garden. 

Left to cherish Wendell’s memory are his children: Wendy Johnson (James Velez) of Ben Wheeler, Texas, Brad (Cheryl) Caughey of Milford, and Chris Caughey of Milford; granddaughter: Toni (Justin Brunner) Johnson of Canton, Texas; step grandchildren: Kathy Harker, Kelly (Craig “Pat”) Colling, and Chad (Andrea) McEnroe; great-grandchildren: Allysin Garrett, Case and Weslynn Brunner; step great-grandchildren: Jaxson and Jonathan Colling, and Aida and Caden McEnroe; sister, Marlys (Stan) Peterson; nieces: Cindy (Brian) Spence and Denise (Tony) Gehlhausen; great- niece: Kearstin; great-nephew: McKiney (Meghan); and four step great-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Leila; step son, Joel Caughey; son-in-law, Rick; grandson, Donnie Garrett; baby sister; and brother-in-law, Wayne.
