Tom Erpelding, age 63 of Burt, passed away on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, in his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 6 at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish - St. Cecelia in Algona. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 5, from 4-7 p.m. at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. Lentz Funeral Home of Algona is assisting the family.
Thomas John Erpelding, the son of Francis John and Mildred Catherine (Hellman) Erpelding was born on July 5, 1961, in Algona. Tom graduated from Burt High School in 1979. Tom worked for Pioneer until his retirement in 2020. Tom was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Parish – St. Cecelia in Algona and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working for area farmers in his spare time. Some of his hobbies included collecting antique tractors and pedal tractors. His prized possession was his 1914 Model T, which he drove in parades, entered in car shows, and took his nieces and nephews for rides around town. He was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, so feel free to wear casual attire if attending the services, such as something from one of his favorite teams.
Left to cherish Tom’s memories are his siblings, Linda (Dave) Salz of West Des Moines, Gary (Stacy) Erpelding of Bode, Nancy (Bob) Quade of Mason City, and Kay (Dwight) Bruns of Hanlontown; 10 nieces and nephews; and two great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Mildred Erpelding; sister, Betty; and brother, Randy.
