A funeral Mass for Tom Lappe of Bancroft will be held Thursday, Nov. 11, at 10:30 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish - St. John’s Catholic Church in Bancroft. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Bancroft American Legion. 
Thomas Harold Lappe was born Dec. 9, 1947, in rural Bancroft, son of Harold F. and Hilda M. (Neuman) Lappe. He grew up on a farm near Bancroft graduating from St. John’s High School in 1966. Tom then served his country from 1968 until 1970 in the United States Army as a rifle marksman. He received the Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart for his service to our country during Vietnam.
Tom was married to Lois Vaske on Sept. 23, 1972, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bancroft. He farmed with his father and brother and then also worked at Welp Hatchery for many years. Tom retried from Aluma Manufacturing in 2015. Tom loved being with his family. He spent a lot of effort and found enjoyment in keeping up his yard. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and a Dallas Cowboys fan, and he enjoyed watching westerns.
Tomas H. Lappe died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, at his home at the age of 73.
He is survived by his wife Lois of Bancroft; three children, Sarah (Chad Ortman) Lappe of Burt, Sheila (Jeremy) Ortman of Bancroft, and Kevin (Erin) Lappe of Fenton; and two grandchildren, Tatum and Landry Lappe. He is also survived by two sisters and a brother, Marlene (Tom) Lichliter of Omaha, Neb., Mary Jane (Bill) Rorah of Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Denny (Linda) Lappe of Bancroft; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents.
