January 29, 1942 - December 3, 2024
On Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, at the age of 82, Sharon Johnson’s long life of generosity for others came to a peaceful end as she held out her hands to Jesus.
Sharon Elizabeth (Anderson) Johnson was born on Jan. 29, 1942, in Webster City. Sharon grew up on a farm northwest of Webster City with her parents and three brothers. Sharon described her parents and brothers as loving and hard-working people. Sharon was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Duncombe. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1960.
On Oct. 18, 1960, Sharon married Robert E. Johnson from Eagle Grove. To this union, two daughters were born; Jodi and Denise.
In 1967, Sharon and Bob moved to Algona. Sharon worked for over 30 years in the banking industry. She worked for Home Federal Savings & Loan and later for Northwest Bank. She especially loved organizing bank bus trips.
Sharon was devoted to her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Sharon loved to cook and bake. Kringlas and Scotcheroos were her specialties. She said the real secret of excellent cooking and baking was “lots and lots of real butter.”
Sharon’s grandchildren will miss visiting Grandma Sharon in her apartment which doubled as both a toy store and ice cream shop. Daniel O’ Donnell music was always playing at grandmas!
Sharon will be missed greatly by her family but they know without a doubt that she is safe with Jesus thanks to His amazing gift of His life, His death, His rising and His grace. Grace upon grace upon grace until we have all found our way home. And in Grandma Sharon humor- let’s hope there are garage sales in Heaven!
Sharon was proceeded in death by her parents Alert and Mary Anderson, husband Robert and brother Dean Anderson.
Sharon is survived by daughters Jodi (John) Rutledge, Denise (Lindy) Hollingsworth, grandchildren Wendi (Dan) Crawford, Chad (Allie) Rutledge, Samantha (Cody) Walton and Scott (Cari) Hollingsworth. Great-grandchildren Krayton Rutledge, Nash Crawford, Kreen Crawford, Atlee Grace Crawford, DeAndre Walton, Cole Walton, Lucas Walton and Kaia Walton.
Private family services were held on Saturday, Dec. 7. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Algona. www.lentzfuneralhome.com.
Memorials may be made in Sharon’s name and directed to Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona.
