Ronald Louis Schafer, 81 of West Bend, died peacefully Tuesday April 15, 2025, at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, April 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish - Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in West Bend. Interment took place at the West Bend Cemetery in West Bend. Visitation was held on Monday, April 21 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Lentz Funeral Home in West Bend. Ron was born March 6, 1944, in West Bend. He was the son of Louis Schafer Jr. and Marie (Schneider) Schafer of West Bend. Ron graduated from West Bend High School in 1962. Upon graduation he drove school bus for West Bend- Mallard schools and farmed with his dad for several years, later starting his own rock hauling business which still operates today. On July 6, 1968, he married Rosemary Hoch of Cylinder. Together they had five boys, Kyle, Kirk, Kelly, Kasey and Kregg. In 1996, Ron and Rosemary divorced but remained friends and continued to raise and support their kids and grandkids together.

Ronald is survived by his three remaining sons: Kelly (Laura) Schafer of St. Joseph, Kasey (Katie) Schafer of West Bend and Kregg (Stephanie) Schafer of West Bend; 11 grandchildren: Kyle, Kelsey (Ethan) and Jordan of Yakima Wash., Clara, Henry, Cora, Cannon, Cambria, Cutler, Noah and Gabe; two great-grandchildren: Quinn and Kate and Ronald’s sister Donna Brechler of Milford. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Marie, and two sons Kyle and Kirk.
