Robert “Bob” Carroll, age 73 of Algona, passed away on Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 5 until 8 p.m. at the Whittemore American Legion Hall. Lentz Funeral Home of Algona is assisting the family. www.lentzfuneralhome.com
On Jan. 29, 1949, Bob arrived. He was the third child of John and Hazel (Albright) Carroll. At the age of 4, his father passed, leaving his mom to raise Bill, Sharon and himself.
While in high school his passion for cars began. Together he and his best friend, Pinhead (Vaughn) bought his first car, a 1930 Ford. Hot Rod magazine fueled his passion and he kept every issue since then.
Upon graduation from Titonka High School in 1967, Bob entered the U.S. Army, proudly serving in Vietnam and Germany. Upon coming home, he started work at Hormel, working there for 38 years.
In Aug. of 1974, Bob became a husband to Jane and dad to Gerry, Kris, Jodi and Kendra.
He was their go to person. They always knew he would be there for them in times of laughter, which was many and also times of tears.
Bob enjoyed gun shows, cars, motorcycles, hunting, telling jokes and making squirrel stew. He was a proud member of the Whittemore Legion, serving as armorer.
Missing Bob is his wife, children, seven grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren, Bill and Susan Carroll and many friends.
Bob’s daughter Kris, sister Sharon, mom and dad went before him.
