Rachel Lou (McArthur) Boeckholt was born July 12, 1940; the daughter of Derwood and Luella (Walker) McArthur. Rachel was born and raised in Lone Rock where she attended country school, then Lone Rock School before graduating from Sentral Fenton High School in 1958. She was also crowned the Mason City Band Festival queen. After high school Rachel graduated from Hamilton Business College in Mason City.
On Aug. 14, 1960, Rachel was united in marriage to David Boeckholt at the Good Hope Methodist Church in rural Lone Rock. They lived and farmed northeast of Titonka for 39 years. Upon retirement, they moved to Oak Lake near Algona where they were able to spend time enjoying friends and family.
Rachel was a dedicated farm wife, playing an active role in the farming operation alongside her husband. However, her greatest joy was being a mother and she cherished the time spent with her children. Family was always at the center of her heart and she made it a priority to create lasting memories, especially through the family vacations they took each year while the children were growing up. In addition to her role as a mother, Rachel enjoyed traveling the country with her husband David, where they both drove and delivered Winnebagos. These trips allowed her to explore new places while doing something she loved, side by side with the man she shared her life with. She was very creative; enjoyed painting and a variety of arts and crafts. Rachel enjoyed many happy times with her friends from the neighborhood birthday club. Rachel was an active member of Ramsey Reformed Church. She had a deep faith in her Lord Jesus Christ and at the end declared numerous times that she was ready to meet her Lord.
Rachel died Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Summit House in Britt at the age of 84.
She is survived by her children, Lyle (Sue) Boeckholt of Titonka; Lori (Ron) Pedersen of Nora Springs; Angie (Dave) Chapman of Lafayette, Ind.; Joe (Michele) Boeckholt of Prairie Village, Kan.; grandchildren, Katie (Joe) Moorberg, Alec Boeckholt, Rachelle (Irakli) Naridze, Samantha (Chris) Lopez, Rita (Peter) Becker and Jon Chapman; great-grandchildren, Preston, Jack and Carter Moorberg, Sophia, Alexandra and David Naridze, Indie and Cruz Lopez, Monty and Evie Becker; brother Jerry McArthur; and many nieces and nephews.
