Phyllis Lee Reding, the daughter of Myrwin and Marie (Stebritz) Dimond, was born on July 27, 1944, in Britt. She graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School with the class of 1962. On Feb. 20, 1965, Phyllis was united into marriage to Tom Reding at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. During her lifetime she was a home maker, store clerk at Hy-Vee and U&I Used Clothing, gardener and an artist.

Phyllis had a remarkable ability to make the most of every situation. She had a talent for decorating her home and spent countless hours perfecting her flower beds. She loved a party and made the most of every family gathering. Antiquing and thrift shopping with “her girls” brought her immense joy. Phyllis treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, always ready to fiercely defend them. Her signature gesture was a hug with a kiss on the cheek, often leaving a trace of lipstick. One of her favorite pastimes was road tripping with Tom, whether exploring the backroads of St. Joe or cross county. Their time on the road together was incredibly precious to her.

Left to cherish Phyllis’ memory are her daughters: Jessi (Brandon) Reding-Ratcliff of Kamrar and Heidi (Scot) Markla of Urbandale; grandchildren: Mercedes, Lexy (Connor), Michael (Kasi), Luke and Hunter; great-grandchild: Jasper; siblings: Mary Lou Woods of Des Moines, Dave (Trish) Dimond of Urbandale, Jack (Sue) Dimond of Algona, Barb Howlett of Britt, Kathy (Mark) Erdman of Algona, Jo Ellen Thortsen of Urbandale, Connie Dimond of Sand Springs, Okla. and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her daughter: Misty and her husband she affectionately called “Tommy.” Heidi and Jessi hope their Dad and Mom are cruising the country roads together in their old Chevy pick up.
