Funeral Mass for Patricia Shaw was celebrated on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish - St. Cecelia Catholic Church. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery.
Patricia Ann Shaw was born September 28, 1931, in Atlantic, the daughter of William and Rose (Michalski) Shea. She grew up in Atlantic where she attended school and graduated from the Atlantic High School. Following her schooling Patricia went to work at the Bell Telephone Company in Atlantic as a telephone operator, where she worked for seven years.
On April 7, 1952, Patricia was united in marriage to John Shaw in Atlantic. John’s work took them to Perry, Ames and Fond du Lac, Wis., before they eventually settled in Algona in 1962. Patricia stayed at home to raise the children and after they were grown she worked at the Algona Cable TV office.
Patricia was family oriented and enjoyed her time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing cards, especially Bridge, golfing and dancing with her husband John and teaching CCD at St. Cecelia’s.
Patricia died Monday, March 6, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona at the age of 91.
She is survived by her children, Paula Aanerud and her husband, Mark of San Luis Obispo, Cali.; Kevin Shaw and his wife, Sheila of Algona; Tracy Tindall and her husband, Michael of Webster City; Eric Shaw of Algona and Jerry Shaw of Corwith; 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John on Jan. 28, 2016; brothers, Bernard and Gene Shea, stillborn brother, Junior Shea; sisters, Helen Watts, Jackie Jones, Jini Nelson, Lillian Dickey and stillborn sister, Madelyn.
