A funeral service for Myron will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, at the Corwith United Methodist Church. Burial will be held in Corwith Cemetery with Military Honors conducted. Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at the Corwith Community Center.
Myron Iddings Cram was born on June 14, 1935, at the family home in Lohrville, to Carroll Jacques Cram and Naomi Grace (Cain) Cram. His family lived at Lohrville until 1942, when they purchased a farm two miles west of Corwith. Myron became a member of the Corwith Methodist Episcopal Church as a teenager. He continued his education at Corwith, where he graduated with the class of 1953. Myron continued farming with his father after high school.
In 1958, Myron was drafted and served two years in the Army in Korea, where he was a sniper and a 106 gunner in the DMZ with the 5th Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. Following this he served in the Army Reserves until May 1964.
On July 11, 1964, Myron was united in marriage with Mariann Evelyn Glawe of Corwith at the M.E. Church in Corwith. With the exception of about 1 ½ years living in Corwith, Myron and Mariann lived their entire 60 years of marriage at their farm home west of Corwith. Myron farmed and raised beef cattle his entire life, and for a number of years, also enjoyed raising and riding appaloosa horses.
Over the years, Myron and Mariann’s family enjoyed many trips throughout the US, including visiting their own parents who were “snowbirds” in Arizona and Texas.
In later years, he thoroughly enjoyed the transition of Mark taking over the farm. Myron loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whether at the farm or their own homes. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. He liked classic country music, anything having to do with John Deere tractors or Ford pickups, and was also a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan.
After Anne and Katie moved away from Iowa, he enjoyed many visits with them and their families in Canada, Texas and Colorado.
Myron was known for his dry sense of humor, kindness and wry smile which endeared him to everyone. He was truly the salt of the earth and will be missed by so many.
Myron is survived by his wife Mariann, son, Mark (Kimberly) Cram of Corwith, daughter Anne (Michael) Sabotta of Cypress, Texas and daughter Katherine (Robert) Fauvelle of Thornton, Colo.; and former daughter-in-law, Robin Beaver Cram. Myron is also survived by two individuals, originally from the Corwith area, that he considered “bonus” sons: Duane (Cathy) Widen and James (Tracy) Roesler.
He was blessed with eight grandchildren: Steven (Alixandra) Cram, Kevin (Lara) Cram and Randy (Abby) Cram; Caroline, Courtney and Catherine Sabotta; Alexander and August Fauvelle. He was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Lilianna, Rosalie and Rafe Cram; Archer Dean, Weston and Ira Cram, and Scarlett Cram.
Myron was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Naomi (Cain) Cram, parents-in-law, Elmer and Anna Florence (Hansen) Glawe, brother and wife Weston and Florence Cram and grandson Kevin Cram.
Myron passed away on Feb. 20 at the Westview Care Center in Britt where he had been a resident since December.
