Mike Lichter, 67, of Lenexa, Kan. and formerly of Algona, passed away in Lenexa, Kan. on Aug. 7, 2024. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday Sept. 12 at the Divine Mercy Catholic Parish – St. Cecelia in Algona. Inurnment will be held in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time at the Divine Mercy Catholic Parish - St. Cecelia Presentation Center. Mike’s service will be livestreamed on the Lentz Funeral Home website.
Mike was born in El Paso, Texas where his father was stationed with the U.S. Army. Mike was born to Jack and Pat (Taylor) Lichter. Mike graduated High School in Lee’s Summit, Mo. in 1975. He then graduated from American Trades Institute in Dallas, Texas in the field of Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration. He worked in various areas including high rise buildings, hospitals and nursing homes, repairing and maintaining heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. He then worked at several large apartment complexes of 200 or more units as supervisor of repairing and maintaining all equipment, including swimming pools. He retired in 2022.
Mike made friends wherever he went and always had a big smile for everyone. He was well liked by the apartment tenants and helped many with jobs in addition to his normal duties. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing and was an avid lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals.
Left to cherish Mike’s memory is his Dad, Jack and his Mother, Pat; his sister, Marci (Joe) Crawford; niece, Kara (Cole) Teasley and their children, Brooke, Bailee and Bryce. Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walt and Erma Lichter and Keith and Erdie Taylor; and uncles Jim Taylor and LeRoy Taylor.
