On Thursday, Aug. 3, Maureen Ann (Thilges) Baker, beloved mother and grandmother passed away at 77 years old. Maureen was born to Oswald and Evelyn Thilges on April 7, 1946. She was one of five children. Maureen graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School in 1964.
Following her graduation, she met Charles Baker. After the third time he proposed, she finally said yes! She and Charles married on June 17, 1967. Then they were blessed to have three loving daughters. Through the years Maureen spent her time spoiling her children and grandchildren. Maureen was also a dedicated daycare provider for over 30 years.
Maureen loved the Chicago Cubs and some of our favorite memories were the trips to see them play. She loved camping, fishing and her family. She will always be remembered as welcoming to friends and family who always had a place to stop and visit. Whether it was for the Clay County Fair or a just a random Sunday afternoon when she was cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Maureen is survived by her daughters Kristy Fredrickson, Jessica Rydell (John) and Kelly Leonard (Gabe). She had seven grandchildren, Jordan Lechleitner, Maya Fredrickson, Emersyn Gilman, Kaden and Karsen Rydell, and Reegan and Reese Leonard. Also surviving her are her brother Brian (Maureen) Thilges and sister Connie Entner along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Oswald; her husband, Charles; and brother, Gary Thilges, and sister, Brenda (Dennis) Miller.
