Marjorie Ann Bell
March 31, 1927 — November 3, 2020
Marjorie Ann Bell passed away peacefully at her Montana home on Nov. 3, 2020.
Marjorie was born on March 31, 1927, in Wesley, to Bert and Helen Putzstuck. She was one of eight children.
She graduated in 1944 from Wesley High School. From there she went on to nursing school and graduated in 1948. While working as an RN in Fort Dodge, she met her husband, Paul Bell. They were married in 1954. They soon moved to the wonderful farm community of Algona, where together they raised their five children and Marjorie continued her career as a nurse.
In 1979 Paul passed away leaving Marjorie to finish raising her two younger sons while still working full time as a nurse at the local hospital.
She filled her life with many activities that included sewing, crafts, home remodeling and going to church. Some of her favorite memories were when the whole family came home to Algona and helped with home improvement projects that would enable her to keep comfortable and safe. It was a wonderful time that was enjoyed by the whole family.
She spent countless years with her daughter Deborah and family from Garner and son David and his family in Des Moines. Together they would enjoy going to concerts, garage sales and shopping, along with many other pleasures that living in Iowa brought their way.
Her love for her grandkids was a great joy in her life. Katie and Taylor would spend many nights with her growing up and those memories will always be treasured.
She also loved traveling and going to garage sales with all her close friends, especially her dear friend Shirley Carlson. Shirley continued to keep in touch with Marjorie until her passing.
Marjorie moved to Kalispell, Montana, in October 2006 to be closer to her daughter Barbara and son James. While living and enjoying the wonders of Montana, she always considered Algona to be home.
Marjorie is survived by her five children, Deborah Hovey, Garner; Barbara Francis, Kalispell, Montana; Mike Bell, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; David Bell, Des Moines; James Bell, Belgrade, Montana, her brother John Putzstuck, Denver, Colorado, and 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.
A burial service will be held on August 28, at 11 a.m. at Eastlawn Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life at Algona senior center.
