Madonna Gross, age 87 of Algona, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, at Homestead Assisted Living in Algona. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona. Burial will take place at a later date at St. John’s Cemetery in Bancroft. Visitation was held on Thursday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona. Services have been entrusted with Lentz Funeral Home in Algona.
Madonna Rae Gross, the daughter of Raymond and Mildred (Kollasch) Vogel, was born on Dec. 6, 1935, in Burt. She attended Burt Community Schools and was part of the 1953 graduating class. After graduation, she was employed at the Burt Community School Office until 1969. Madonna then worked for the Burt Telephone Company for over 20 years. On Dec. 30, 1971, Madonna married the love of her life, Dwight H. Gross, in Winger Haven, California. The couple loved to travel and lived in Arizona, Colorado and Iowa.
Madonna was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church. In her spare time, she loved to go camping, shopping, travel, attend races and have a good time with friends and family. Madonna was always thinking of others first and would often say “let’s get the beads going” and pray.
Madonna has numerous family members and friends left to cherish her memory. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dwight in 2021.
