Lynda Ann Porter

April 26, 1936 - February 25, 2025

Daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother.

Lynda was born at home to Ross and Jessie (Hughes) Rash in Burt. Burt was a very small town where everyone knew everyone. She lived right next door to the school. She loved school and school social activities. She always got good grades as school was easy for her. She was in all the school plays and loved singing. She tells of her mom giving her a dime for the movies and a nickel for french fries at the coffee shop after the movie. They were not rich but her mom, who she adored, always provided.

Lynda was the youngest of a large family. She had two brothers. She grew up with and five sisters that were pretty much out of the house when she was little. They came home often and brought her presents, which she loved.

There was also a baby boy that died shortly after birth and she always included him and said “I am from a family of nine children,” never to be forgotten.

A couple of years out of high school Lynda was married and had Leslea Dawn, moved to California, then Lisa came along. She loved southern California. She loved the beach and many adventures were had by us three girls, Lynda, Leslea and Lisa. We were a team.

During those 10 years, Lynda was the assistant administrator at a psychiatric hospital and until she retired held similar positions wherever she lived.

In 1977, Lynda met the love of her life, Kenneth Porter and they were promptly married. Thus began all new adventures that took them to several different states and sights to see. Including Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, Las Vegas, Nevada and back to California, making their permanent home in Victorville, Calif., all while hauling a dog at times and a cat or two with them.

Throughout all of life’s ups and downs Lynda always had a positive attitude and a great faith in God. She was of small stature but very strong in will and heart.

Preceding Lynda in death is her mother Jessie (Hughes) Rash, her father, Ross Rash, three brothers; John Rash, Layton Rash and infant brother; five sisters, Margaret, Florence, Betty, June and Norma.

Lynda is survived by her husband Kenneth Porter, two daughters, Leslea (Cesar) Morales and Lisa (Blaise) Vasey; grandchildren: Roel (Stephanie), Tony, Justin (Ashley), Stephen (Danalle), Gabriel, Lance (Andrea), Jesse, Chelsea (Lee), Bryson and Alissa (Stephen); great-grandchildren: Kassidy, Kayce, Rhianna, Tegan, Irisa, Hallie, Brielle, Gunner, Isaiah, Audey, Isabella, Britta, Logan Jakkie and Mason; great-great-grandchildren: Layten, Lincoln and Lukus; also many beloved nieces and nephews.
