A funeral service for Katheryn R. Quebe will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church in Corwith with pastor Lissa Kahl officiating. Burial will be held at the Corwith Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Katheryn (Hankins) Quebe was born in Britt on Oct. 30, 1921, to James and Gertie (Ennen) Hankins. The family moved to Indianapolis, Ind. when Katheryn was 16, where she graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1939. After graduation she worked as a dental assistant, going on to work in a dental laboratory.

Katheryn married Charlie Quebe in Indianapolis on Sept. 7, 1940. The family moved to Corwith in 1946, where she first worked at Quality Dry Goods, Corwith Cafe and then as secretary to veterinarian Paul Gorham. In 1960, she began her position as bookkeeper at the Corwith Community Coop, where she worked until her retirement in 1984. For 15 years Katheryn and Charlie spent their winters in Mesa, Ariz. They enjoyed fishing and golfing.

Katheryn was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Corwith and Royal Neighbors of America. She made countless lap robes and prayer shawls as a part of Corwith’s Prayer Shawl team and enjoyed being part of the Birthday Club.

Katheryn died Friday, March 21 at Samaritan Bethany in Rochester, Minn. She was 103.

Katheryn is survived by her son Jerry (Lisbeth) Quebe of Rochester, Minn.; three grandchildren, Tracy (Hugh) Marbach of Spokane, Wash., Chad (Marianne) Darby of Tualatin, Ore. and Tara Blietz of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; five great-grandchildren, McKennah (Brandon) Berlik, Justin Marbach, Anika Marbach, Morgan Darby and Sarah Darby; one sister, Gloria Adams of Corwith; and especially close nephews, Rick (Margo) Adams of Ruthven and Gary Adams (Connie) of Algona.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Quebe; daughter Phyllis Powell and her husband David; granddaughters Jacque Powell and Dana Quebe; her parents and four brothers, Harold Hankins, Howard (Babe) Hankins, Richard Hankins and James (Bud) Hankins.
