Karen Ann Martin was born on May 22, 1935, in Chicago, Ill. Her arrival was celebrated by her parents, William Martin and Mary Emma Marsh Martin. She grew up in Illinois, spending time in Decatur, Rockford and Chicagoland area, surrounded by the large extended Marsh family. Most of her life, people knew and called her Kay. She attended college at Miami University of Oxford, Ohio, where she met Albert McCoy Talbot (Pat). They were married in Kenilworth, Ill. on Aug. 24, 1957. Kay was a faithful and supportive wife of 65 years and together they had three children.
After college Kay held many different positions, from kindergarten teacher to editor at Scripture Press. However, her favorite role was that of wife, mother and grandmother. In their early 50’s, Pat and Kay were called to the mission field. They worked for over 30 years in various positions. The places they lived and were stationed included: Costa Rica, Quito, Ecuador, Colorado Springs and Gibraltar, Spain. Along with serving on the mission field, they enjoyed traveling around the world.
If you have ever met Kay Talbot, there are two things that stood out in her life. She was warm, inviting and a people person. Mom was always ‘peopling’. She was also a prayer warrior. Much of her life was spent interceding on behalf of those she met, before her heavenly father. She also loved all things chocolate- except if it was ice cream, then only vanilla would do.
She is survived by her sister Judy Armaganian of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Her children Jeffrey and Alison Talbot of Seattle, Wash., Elizabeth and Steven Lorentz of Andover, Minn., and Peter and Marcia Talbot of Algona. Grandchildren Kyle and Michelle Talbot, Nathan Talbot, Brendan and Laura Lorentz, Lauren and Bjorn Holine, Erin Lorentz, Michael Talbot, Caleb Talbot and Hailey Talbot. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert “Pat” Talbot on Sept. 10, 2022.
